My daughter has been diagnosed with PCOS and takes Spironolactone and Yacdlla (combined pill). She had to stop Metformin as it didn’t agree with her.
we have noticed that when she has 7 days of off Yacdlla she sheds more hair. I know that if you permanently stop the pill you get shedding but we didn’t expect to see it when just taking the usual break after 21 days on the tsb,et.
The anyone else experienced this and has anyone found a way to avoid this monthly shedding?]

A few years ago i got put on Yasmin combined pill for my PCOS and it didn’t really benefit me or my symptoms and most women often say the same about the combined pill. although i don’t have experience in that particular medication, i do know that often if you stop a medication cold turkey, that the effects often get worse before they get better. hopefully someone who is experienced in Yacdlla can share their opinion on it !
I also was on metformin and absolutely had to stop because of the digestive issues too. i found it made all my symptoms worse and stayed in my system for ages too. I was also on spironolactone for a good few months/a year or so and stopped it a few months ago. spironolactone was somewhat helpful and i took it for my hormonal acne (as well as an acne medication called Lymecycline that i was on for years and years) and it helped with my symptoms somewhat but these sorts of medications often stop getting absorbed into the body after a prolonged period of taking them. i, personally, am taking a break from all medications to hopefully lower my tolerance again before starting anything
i went to the GP to ask for a blood test to check my vitamin levels as sometimes if you are deficient, they can also make your PCOS symptoms worse or add others that are similar. I was vitamin D and B12 deficient and am now taking supplements for these and have noticed positive changes ! Vitamin B12 and biotin supplements also help strengthen nails and hair so perhaps this is something your daughter could look into if she is worried about this ? there are other supplements and holistic techniques that i (and others) know about so if this is something that interests you, then feel free to ask !
