Hello, looking for some advice. I've been having irregular periods for a few years now. I'm only 25, sometimes I've gone about 3 months without coming on. I went for a scan last year but I didn't hear anything back.
However since lockdown, my periods have been coming but lastly for about 3 weeks at a time, and they're 2 weeks apart.
When I called my doctor she said I was diagnosed with Polycystic ovary syndrome last year! But noone ever told me.
However is this kind of period normal? I'm just getting very worried with how long it's lasting.
Thanks

Hi, I'd definitely keep track of how long your bleeds are, are you using a period tracker app? Worth keeping an eye on your energy levels as well - heavy bleeding can lower your iron levels. It's definitely not considered 'normal' so worth going back to your GP to discuss further.
If you need to find out more about the condition do head to the Verity website verity-pcos.org.uk
Thanks for your message! I don't have a period tracker but I might have a look to download one.
Yeah I'd didnt think it was. My vitamin D levels are low, but other things seem to be ok. They need to do a smear test but last 2 times I've been it's been super painful and I'm so anxious. They need to wait until the bleeding stop so I can try again.
Have you been investigated for other conditions? You mentioned pain with your smear and that could indicate a condition such as Endometriosis which is associated with painful intercourse and heavy bleeding. It might be worth checking out the Endometrisosis UK website to see if anythingon there sounds familiar. endometriosis-uk.org/inform...
