I was diagnosed with PCOS just before lockdown and have not been able to see my doctor since but unsure what can actually be done and if I have to go back. I know there are different types of PCOS and I am wondering how to figure out which type I am - is there specialists I can be referred to for this? My main issue at the moment is hair thinning and excessive hair growth. I know that there is no cure for this and will mostly be helped by changing my diet however the majority of PCOS diets I see online are aimed at losing weight to control symptoms while I am already a healthy size 6/8. Are there dieticians that my doctor can refer me to in the UK or is this something I will have to do on my own?

Hello, thin type pcos is not as common as stabdard but the diet is much the same and although your clearly not over weight you still have too much sugar in your system, hence higher insulin and this results in higher testosterone ( this then results in thining hair and excessive body hair particularly facial in most wommen) so my advise is cut carbs to a minimum, cut them out at breakfast and lunch abd quarter portion for dinner. You will need to massievly increase your protein heathy fats to counteract the calories so you don't lose weight. Gluteb free and lacto free are also much better as pcos sufferes normally have a low level tummy issues (called a leaky gut) and take a prebiotic.. a lot of pcos sufferers normally get told they have IBS thats just lazy doctors.. to be honest get on pin trest and put in pcos diet and symptoms and best supplements its a treasure trove of advise. In all honesty my pcos was undiagnosed for over 10 years my doctors were terrible.. to point where mine was so bad I developed diabetes type 2 I know more about it than them as your not over weight your likely to get little to no help at all.. the supplements I think are excellent are inositol and b12.. lots places sell this but i use fertile f2 and ovarifert from amitamin I went from no period.for 10 years to clockwork they also include loads of vitamins that pcos people lack... like i said lots on the market but be carefully with high doses of biotin as this can make you shed hair if you stop taking it.. some of the doses you can buy on amazon are harmful.. do the research first. Good luck
