Please can we hear some success stories of natural conception with PCOS?

- what did you do to help the process? Did you take supplements etc?

I was due to start treatment this month but COVID-19 has resulted in closure of the fertility centres (as Im sure most of you already know), and there’s no plan for them reopening soon.

I’m 28, have PCOS, Im not overweight, only surface symptom I have is acne, and I’m currently taking inofolic and omega 3 supplements.

Any other advice??

TIA

Hello

I (re)started taking Metformin and lost some weight (just under a stone) with Slimming World before I stopped taking the pill. I didn’t plan it that way, it was just coincidence. I fell pregnant 6 weeks later. I was very surprised, I thought it would take a couple of years!

I did some reading and it seems that your body rushes to release eggs after a long period of taking the pill and I had been on the pill for around 10 years. As if suppressing that particular hormone causes a surge of it when you stop holding it back. I’m not sure of the validity of this theory but it makes some sense to me.

Good luck,

Hi Lottie,

That’s great news :) I too was on the pill for around 10 years however my periods were all over the place when I came off it and I didn’t get diagnosed with PCOS until 6 months later.

I too have irregular periods. Before I did have PCOS. Am trying to get pregnant but it's difficult. My periods are irregular. Can I take metformin to regulate the cycle?

What treatment were you going to start with?

I’ve read about a lot of side effects to metformin but I expect there’s side effects to most drugs.

I was due to start taking Clomid this month but it’s been put on hold. I did have irregular periods (33-45 days) but since taking inofolic my last two cycles have both been 36 days long and I’ve had positive ovulation tests both months. Inofolic can be bought online and is a powder supplement containing folic acid and myo-inositol which women with PCOS are suspected to be deficient in.

Ya, am looking around and there are positive reviews about inositol. I'll give it a try. I do get periods but its once in 2 or 3 months. Not sure if it's enough to get pregnant. I also had pregnacare conception, but it wasn't helpful.

Fixed my diet, fixed my vitamin D deficiency, used vitex tincture for a cycle and after 1 month of this - fell pregnant for the first time in 12 years. Unfortunately ended in a miscarriage at 6 weeks, but this in of itself was a miracle to get this far :)

Hello dear!

I’m similar to you, not overweight and just minor acne and hair grow. But I had few periods in a year and didn’t seem to be ovulating, ttc for over a year.

I did start on metformin as a first step treatment, then started searching alone and taking vitamin D3 5000UI and Myo-Inositol suplement. This was sufficient to get me pregnant and didn’t need hormon treatment which would be a next step treatment.

Hope it helps, cheers!

Aline
