Metformin is primarily a diabetes drug but can help pcos ladies who are insulin resistant, often it is the weight loss from the side effects that can help with conceiving (if you are overweight)

Hello

When I initially went to the doctor about trying to conceive they gave me metformin as there is some consensus that it can help to regulate your cycles (and help you lose weight). I'm actually a healthy weight and always have been, unfortunately it didn't help regulate my cycles (I get 2-4 a year) and I ended up going to see a fertility specialist. Hopefully it'll work for you! Good luck!

Well that is really good. Did they say when they are reviewing you? And if you usually ovulate? That was my issue I don't ovulate, even with letrozole. I am now booked in to start IVF in July. Hopefully your journey will be a lot more straight forward.

They took bloods from me yesterday to see where my thyroid is over active. And they are reviewing me in october xx but if the bloods come back as my thyroid is still high they will prescribe medication ..

Hey

I hope the metformin works for you.

I have been on it since September last year and it did not help me alone. But I continued to take it and then back in January my doctor told me to take inofolic which is bought online and is sachets for ladies with pcos.

I also bought ovusense as I was not ovulating so needed to double check if I was and this was the best tool to do it accurately for pcos sufferers.

I was then prescribed clomid as all other tests came back fine but seemed to confirm that I didn't ovulate.

I took clomid and went in for cycle tracking and drs said to abandon the cycle. I have irregular cycles so didn't know when to expect my period and was waiting to up my next round of clomid as ivf is booked for July.

Anyways a few weeks ago I took a pregnancy test due to having sore breasts and test was positive.

I'd suggest reading woman code and it starts with an egg if you haven't read them already because after reading those I changed so much about my lifestyle and diet even though I was healthy and have a good BMI. There were still things disrupting my hormones which I did not realise.

I also took a pre conception multivitamin.

Wishing you all the best. If you gave any questions then please feel free to ask. Metaformin isn't the easiest to deal with and has some side effects.

X

Thank you, my fertility doctor thinks i can do it naturally as the cyst is only small and not big what my gp thought so he recommended just with bit of help from folic acid and metaformin also maybe medication for throid if i need it cause my throid is a bit over active.

Im just trying to not stress now and relax and concentrate on me

Mediation and yoga helps me to relax as well as cooking or baking I find it therapeutic.

Even watching mindless TV shows.

Eating home cooked meals with plenty of veggies and protein and staying away from too many white carbs like potatoes or pasta.

Eating salmon once a week.

You'll find what works for you just have to try and see what you enjoy. X
