Hi pumpkins

My cousin is expecting

And as far as I know all is going well, I would have heard if not I am sure. She's been trying for ages!

Good luck xx

Hi pumpkins.

I have been ttc for 5 and a half years now and was diagnosed with pcos soon after starting to try for our first baby.

I’ve been through so many tests and a laparoscopy. I was also on letrozole (where I did manage to get pregnant but miscarried) and clomid for a time.

Last year I had ivf which resulted in a negative and also my frozen cycle in April resulted in a negative.

After all of this, my hubby and I decided to take a break from all things fertility.

Low and behold - something managed to click in to place and I am now 13 weeks pregnant with my little miracle bean. At the moment, everything is going like a normal healthy pregnancy should.

I’ve been lucky enough to get some early scans in also. I haven’t been able to fault the midwifes/sonographers etc who I have seen so far.

I wish you every luck in the world with your journey. Please don’t give up hope!

Xx

what is Letrozole for?

Letrozole is a medication which helps women to ovulate. It’s like clomid but is a newer used medication to help women with ovulation issues.

where was it prescribed by GP or fertility clinic how does it work, what are the side effects?

It was prescribed to me by my fertility clinic. As I said on last message, it works by helping you to ovulate if you aren’t normally able to. I didn’t really have much in the way of side effects.

Maybe give it a google search - google letrozole for fertility, because it is also as a medication for ladies who have breast cancer.

Hi pumpkins, we had 4 years of fertility treatment and it resulted in an ectopic pregnancy 😢 we then decided to stop trying as we found it so stressful. We went to an adoption seminar and were waiting for our visit home visit from the adoption agency when we found out I had fallen pregnant naturally😀 the pregnancy went smoothly except for developing gallstones, there was no different care given, had gestational diabetes test which was negative but that was due to weight not pcos. We now have a beautiful healthy 12 year old girl and I consider myself extremely lucky. Stay positive x x x x

Hi Pumpkins,

I conceived both my girls naturally. My first was after 2 1/2 years of trying & 10 failed rounds of Clomid. Had taken a break from ttc to decide what we wanted to do next when I found out I was pregnant! Pregnancy was mostly straightforward so maternity care was no different than if I hadn't had trouble conceiving but my midwife was fab. Did develop pre eclampsia at 39 weeks so was induced but apart from that it was fine.

I conceived my 2nd daughter without even trying when my first was 13 months old! So it was a total shock but a very welcome one! No pre eclampsia this time so everything from pregnancy to labour to birth all went really smoothly.

I wish you the best of luck with your journey xx

I was 32 & 34 when I had my two. I have heard good stories of women getting pregnant in their 40s even with medical difficulties so there is hope. Good luck xx

Oh no that's awful, I hope she beats it.

Have you been referred to a fertility clinic? I'm sure if you explain your worries they will reassure you and give you some advice. My consultant advised me to follow the GI diet, I wasn't overweight but I was right at the top of the normal weight range & he said losing a bit of weight would help. So I had lost a stone & was eating really well & exercising when I got pregnant which I am convinced is what helped me conceive.

Its worth asking if there are any other more natural remedies to try xx

Hi Jasmine, I saw a new GP she said as I am having regular periods I must be ovulating, what do you think?

Jasmineblue profile image

I would still ask to be referred to a fertility clinic if you haven't been already. GPs are fab but they're not specialists. The clinic will also do other tests as even if you are ovulating they will need to make sure there are no other issues to stop you getting pregnant eg an ultrasound to check your tubes are clear, test your partners sperm count etc

But keep trying while you're waiting for the referral & good luck xx

We conceived naturally after ten years, we had started looking into fertility treatment. In my mind I’d given up hope of having a baby and accepted it. Then lo and behold I got pregnant at 36 years old, no-one was more surprised than me! We’re now parents to an almost one year old, startling to think about trying for baby number two. Good luck Pumpkins 😃
