I've had disappointing results with vegan baking. A tomato and herb bread mix followed by a pancake mix have yielded very poor results. Both the bread and the pancakes having a weird taste. I've used a chia seed egg and oat milk in both recipes. could either of these led to poor results?

Vegan Eggs
Hi willsie
I'm sorry you've had poor results. I've used chia eggs and haven't had a problem. I've used almond milk with my recipe for vegan low fodmap peanut, banana and oat bars and they've been fine.
I hope you have more success next time.
Most bread recipes are vegan anyway. I am not sure why you are using milk in your bread . My basic recipe is flour, water and salt. Usually a sour dough starter but sometimes dry yeast. Nevver fails and tastes great. Was it a bread mix out of a packet or did you follow a recipe ?
I don't make pancakes so I have no advice there !

It was a ready made bread mix. Looking back I think it was vegan yoghurt in that! Not plant milk: this was in the pancakes yesterday. Being very new to cooking I didn’t know milk wouldn’t be in bread. First loaf I ever made and it was horrible.
That is a real shame as home made bread is so much better than shop bought. If you are in the Uk and want an easy bread try Hovis Granary Flour and use oil instead of the butter it suggests in the recipe on the back. It is good and might restore your faith in vegan bread..
