Hi BoohPear, Have fun. Have you just become vegan?

I really enjoyed the one near me 2 years ago. In the past they may have had horrific posters on the wall etc and you wouldn’t know what you were walking into but it’s normally not like that now. It’s a great way of buying vegan toiletries etc that are natural and made on a small scale and it’s empowering to have so many likeminded people in one place. The different stalls are really interesting. I hope you enjoy yourself and thanks for posting this.

Ali 🙂🌱

Thank you for replying. I'm on tip toes,,just hoping it suits me as I've never been that interested in meat, except the Xmas Turkey Crown. Very much into vegetables and making up own recipes so vegan seems the way to go. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis hands and feet so need advice on vegan and health 🐱🐱

Oh dear poor you. My advice to anyone becoming vegan is to go down the wholefood route and not to buy too much take meat/cheese etc for convenience. I think eating plant based should definitely help with the inflammation you are suffering from. Also make sure if you haven't already that you get a good quality vitamin B12 supplement. It would be great to hear how you're getting on and don't be afraid to ask for help or advice as we all started off just like you are and everyone is at different stages and we all learn from each other by asking questions and swooping advice, so welcome to VFL 😀 Ali

Yes I see. What is Vegan cheese like,I've yet to try ? Is Bulgar wheat good for me. I've used it in place of rice recently. 😽

Hi, I don’t have fibromyalgia as you do and I’m not medically qualified but I think you’re suppose to avoid gluten? If so quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat or brown rice might be a better option to help with the inflammation. If I was you I would look into whether gluten will cause you a problem.

Vegan cheese isn’t great and to be honest in my opinion it can ruin what you put it on. For a topping on lasagne for example I would put passatta and then blended cashews, garlic powder and nutritional yeast, instead of vegan cheese. I also make a white sauce and put a little mustard and nutritional yeast instead of cheese.

I hope this helps a bit. Ali 🙂🌱

bulgar wheat then. Sorry I'm being a pain today but you are giving me such great advice🐱

No you’re not a pain. Yes I’m sure buckwheat is gluten free and better for you generally than bulgar wheat. 🙂 Ali

Also I found this on buck wheat....

Buckwheat actually comes from the seeds of a plant distantly related to rhubarb and is neither related to wheat, nor, technically, a grain. It is usually found in ground form, but can also be bought as wholegrain groats, cracked as flakes or cereal, and in processed foods such as pasta. Delicious in salads, it lends itself well to being mixed with other pseudo-grains such as quinoa. Buckwheat flour can be added to pancakes, muffins, blinis and soba noodles.
Healthwise, buckwheat is a good source of protein, containing all the essential amino acids. It is an excellent source of manganese and magnesium and a good source of selenium, niacin, folate, iron, zinc, copper and phosphorus. It is also rich in phytochemicals and is gluten free. 👍

I’m quite new to this too ... I was vegetarian for years and did veganuary 😊 I was meaning to do it for ages but knew as soon as I read all about the dairy trade there would be no going back! I have found it so easy it’s almost like this is the year to do it! I personally do not like vegan cheese so I just don’t eat cheese but there is so much you can eat instead ... good luck I hope you enjoy your vegan journey 🌱
