I sometimes make myself a mug of hot chocolate in the winter after I’ve been for a walk with the dogs as Cadbury’s chocolate powder is vegan.
However whilst I was out over Christmas two places I asked for a hot chocolate with plant milk said the milk is vegan but the hot chocolate powder isn’t. It was Cadbury’s so this made no sense. I looked at the packet and it’s exactly the same colouring etc on the packet as the round box you buy in the supermarket except it comes in a large purple bag and it does indeed contain milk powder as part of the ingredients. ☹️
So this is something you will want to be aware of if you are buying a hot chocolate from a coffee shop.
(I have contacted Cadbury’s about this and as yet they haven’t replied).

Hi Ali, why not get members to lobby Cadbury's here's what we did on the GF forum:
There's a standard letter and contact details to make it easier for others and now is perfect timing for this methinks and there's nothing like being proactive. 😊
I do agree Jerry. It’s definitely the way to get things changed. I emailed them yesterday first thing and I want to see what their response is first. I can’t find the chocolate in the bag on line so I’m wondering if it is old stock and want to give them the chance to explain but...... I have also read today it’s only the one pictured which is vegan. It says, the only one that is vegan is the one that says “swirl into hot milk”. We’ll see what they say.
Cadbury’s do a 2Kg catering tin that you just add hot milk and this says may contain milk...so they’re obviously packed together. They do a range of catering ones, so it looks like a minefield as they’re all very similar looking. 😏
Thanks for the links....Yes it is a mine field the one in the shop was a massive bag and said it contained skimmed powdered milk. I can understand it has that if it’s a vending one that you add hot water to. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t do that big bag now but I’ll see what they say. I’ve occasionally ordered a plant milk hot chocolate and just thought it was vegan so now I’ll be extra careful and ask. Or just buy a bar of green and blacks and do it myself at least I can control the sugar content then. 😁
Why oh why do they have to put milk in hot chocolate when you are going to add milk/plant milk anyway, it doesn't make sense. It so annoys me and restricts what you can and can't have outside. I take my own milk to a couple of places and one of them I've stopped going to as she criticised the Oat Milk that I asked her to use, it was my homemade one. I haven't been back to that place for about 3 months now and am never going back. She was also very rude in general.
Well done Ali on writing to them, this is what I have done to a few people and had what I call 'very watery responses'. I hope that you have a good reply.
