That's a great link thanks.

Good to see FoE getting involved in the lower/no meat campaign

This is interesting. I like the part where it says food supplied in hospitals, schools and care homes should use less meat and better quality. Hospitals especially should be setting an example.

Sadly Ali, hospital staff seem to suffer obesity in my opinion so its not just the patients who should be fed better quality food...😊

Oh my goodness this is so true. I am a private carer and one of my clients died in hospital this time last year. I could not believe how, not only overweight but unhealthy the staff looked but it must be so hard for them to eat healthily if eating in the canteen as it’s all junk, all wrong and all needs an overhaul.

I'm sure hospitals/politicians will listen when there are enough people wanting the change. Healthcare would need to change at the same time, too. From treating "bits of organs" to "Holistic medicine".

Thanks for posting this anothermember as it is very interesting article, so good for Friends of the Earth who have been fishing plastic from the Pacific garbage patch for years, And now governments have woken up to the fact that they were right. So I'm sure they're right now.

Yes. It is reassuring to see that many people are actively signing up to support, showing their concern for the environment where our food is coming from. Thank you for the positivity.

So thanks for the FoE link, it is promising that we're taking our responsibilities seriously and benefiting form doing so. 😊

I struggle with the concept that grass-fed cattle are good for the environment. If everyone went grass fed we would need at least two planets worth of space - just for the cattle, never mind the human population! Grass fed is also for people who can afford to pay the extra money, how can that be sustainable for large populations?

A good point. Aren't they trying to tackle the obvious bad bits (which need their "urgent" help) first? They probably wouldn't want to antagonise the mainstream donors/ supporters, I wonder (?).

Might it be worth writing to them?

I think you've nailed it - they almost certainly don't want to upset too many of their members - and grass fed cattle (along with ideas like "free range") let people feel that they are doing something without actually changing their diet too much.

However I can't really blame FoE, there are already plenty of campaigning vegan organizations and as you say it let's them make a start in tackling this.
