If you have not completed the Vuk/HU Hospital Survey please could you take a moment and tell us about your hospital ....
I was very fortunate to be sent by my GP to East Surrey Hospital (Redhill) for blood tests and chest X-ray in December 2010. Within minutes they had decide that I should be admitted immediately and started treating me for pneumonia. Five days later and still no improvement, they decided to call in one of their top consultants (Dr. Makadsi) who sat and asked questions about my health over the last two years, whrnI had finished he said "I am certain I know what is wrong with you. A few more tests later Dr. M told me that I had Wegeners.
I have had excellent treatment from Dr. M and can not find fault with the hospital and all the staff I have come in contact with.
Do you have a link to the survey please?
Never mind, found it
Do we go to the Hospitals tag? where you put in the hospital name?
Yes go to the Hospital tag and follow the link .... the information we gather from the hospital surveys is invaluable thank you
Is there an actual hospital survey form to fill in? If so, I can't seem to find it? Directions please.
I was 68 and admitted to The Nottingham University Hospital, also known as The Queens Medical Centre (QMC), on a 999 about 5 a.m. (Note: The paramedics had suggested a panic attack). Dr Lanyon (Rheumatology Consultant) saw me early that morning and having seen my blood tests, had immediately diagnosed CSS. He mentioned to my Wife that had I not been fit and healthy, both physically and dietary (mentally I was out of it), the scenario could have been quite different. I was very lucky that Dr lanyon is the leading vasculitis consultant at the QMC. Because my condition was so serious and despite immediate treatment with maximum cylophos and steroids, the CSS induced a stroke the following day. Following all stroke related tests I was transferred to the neuro department where I was looked after by Dr Humberstone (Neuro Consultant). After 5 weeks in hospital I have always had direct access to both Dr Lanyon's Team and to Dr Humberstone. At the outset I cannot praise the QMC Staff enough for their care and professionalism. I relapse 21 mths later, then almost again about 3 weeks ago. My Wife took me to A&E and showed them my latest consultation letter with Dr Lanyon (the letter is important) and was seen within 15 minutes of waiting. Having stayed overnight I'm on a reducing steroid regime from 40mg, have had a slight increase in my daily prednisalone, bloods taken 2 weekly and back to monthly checks with Dr Lanyon.
Hi Derek
I was diagnosed with MPA nearly four years ago by Dr Lanyon, I too was admiited to the QMC as an emergency and am just so grateful to him for four years of wonderful care. Having direct access to him and his team has been a godsend and so reassuring and I cannot praise him highly enough. I actually live in Leics and the fact I was sent to the QMC purely by chance makes me realise how lucky I was.
Take care
Sandy

Hi, after an awful experience with my local hospital in Salisbury, I ended up in Hope Hospital, Salford under the care of Dr Sussman, he was amazing and I owe him my life. I really cant praise him enough after my awful treatment in Salisbury. if you want recommendations for neurologists then I would thoroughhly recommend him? He diagnosed my Cerebral Vasculitis and began a treatment regime and also ensured that when I was ready to come back South to my home that my care and treatment was transferred to some one with the relevant experience with Cerebral Vasculitis?
Best wishes
Sarah
