I participated in this trial and would recommend it to anyone thinking about it. Being in the trial also didn’t impact my treatment - I was still able to start azathioprine when my body rejected methotrexate part way through the trial.

We need more treatment options for ANCA vasculitis and hydroxychloroquine could be a useful addition. Hydroxychloroquine has been around for a while so the side effects are well known and the positives outweigh the risks for most people. It also works well for some people with SLE / lupus, so it’s worth investigating. The research team is looking at the standard measures (BVAS scores, bloods etc) and quality of life factors. I hope they can find enough people to participate to make the research meaningful.

Would have been interested as pred is causing my wife (who has EGPA) issues with her bones. Unfortunately, having checked the criteria, she is ineligible due to taking a biological treatment other than Rituximab and also has immunoglobulin infusions. I hope the trial attracts sufficient participants to enable a proper assessment to be made and thank you for drawing our attention to it
