Hi I’m sorry I can’t answer your question. I have one for you though. I’m on mycophenolate and wondered what your side effects were? I’m suffering with all sorts !!!

I was on a dose of 500 twice a day of mycophenolate. I found l had constant stomach ache and awful diarrhoea. I lost a couple of pounds every week . After a couple of months I took half the amount . I have improved a lot , less pain . I don’t have to run as fast to the bathroom . I still feel uneasy about going too far from home . I have a couple of really bad days a week , but as I said I have improved enormously. I have been told that this new medication is a lot easier on the stomach. Another symptom which seems a bit odd and might be all in my mind . I think l smell a bit off . I am having a couple of showers every day , but as l said that might just be in my mind . I hope this helps .

Wow I’ve been exactly the same and my consultant at Addenbrookes wants to up it to 1500mg a day plus steroids. I feel crap all the time

That sounds awful . I go to the royal free , they are very sympathetic. I had awful headaches on steroids, although l have heard that they are very useful. I don’t think I could up my mycophenolate l would spend all day in the bathroom and disappear weight wise.

It is indeed mycophenolate but the difference is that it is an enteric formulation and is designed for slow release and for not releasing active drug in acid conditions ie the stomach. The idea is to reduce the side effects. You would have to check this but that is what I concluded from the internet. I have no experience of it.
