I know that the Government IS 'relaxing' Shielding.... whilst at the same time 'Tightening' Lockdown in other areas. So one question- bearing in mind my Condition- should I have my Hair Cut on Monday.... or should I delay it? I am, rather Concerned, you see.
May I please ask for Your Opinions please Everyone. Many thanks

I live in the new lockdown area, in an independant living complex. Our hair dresser has been told not to come on to the premises, however we are allowed to go to external hairdressers, so if we can still do that and go shopping/pubs/restaurants, then my advise to you is YES go, but make sure you are wearing a mask (unless you have a beard and it is getting cut). Good luck and stay safe
Hi Andrew it’s a difficult one. You could always postpone your appointment if you don’t feel comfortable.. is a hair cut worth the anxiety? I cut my OH hair as he is not ready to go to the barbers. Maybe small steps.
I guess everyone’s journey will be different but it’s worth remembering the pandemic is still around.
Thank you for your replies. I have now decided to Postpone, my Haircut, for a week at least. Not, I may say, an easy decision- especially as my hair is so long, and knotted.
If it hadn't been for, the resent 'Resurgence' in COVID, I would happily have gone along- I just DARE not, take the 'chance'. Which is Worse, long Hair or- almost certain- Death? A bit of a No Brainer!
Just to add to the discussion, do some research into your local barbers/hairdressers, to see what measures they are taking before taking the plunge. On my hairdressers' website they describe in detail what they are doing. Screens between customers, staff wearing masks and visors, welcomed with a pack of clean cape, towel etc. for your own use, sterilised equipment and all the usual cleaning down between customers, and so on. I feel that I would be as safe in there, as in a medical environment. I am booked to go later this month, hoping that things haven't worsened by then.
Until then I am sporting the Covid 2020 look, i.e. half silver and half gold. Sounds better than grey roots extending over half my head!
I have been wondering how everyone feels about shielding now and how comfortable we are about venturing out. It's certainly a constant balance weighing it all up, the risk against the reason we're going out.
Just as August arrives and the rules are being further relaxed there is a resurgence in cases it seems. I for one am very uncomfortable with it all, I've been out on walks but just once ventured inside anywhere which was for a hospital appointment, I seemed to be more eager to keep well away from others than they did from me I felt.
I think you've made the right decision, the virus is still very much out there sadly.
Have you considered looking for a mobile hairdresser? My daughter is doing all her appointments outside, weather permitting, failing that a well ventilated room. She is of course still providing/using full PPE.
He went to our local village hairdresser. She wore full PPE , visor, mask, gloves and pinafore. John wore a mask until he had his beard trimmed.
On his return home he washed his hands and face and changed his clothes.
It is personal choice.... but if you do pluck up courage and go make sure every safety precaution is in place.
Sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier...John has been in hospital again and the helpline and my email box has been manic... Especially this last few days .
I have Postponed my Haircut, for a least two weeks, then 'I'll 'See' how I feel. With all this Resurgence In Cases, occurring apparently Randomly, I think I'm going to Play It Safe- at least for now.
I'm sorry that John has been unwell again, please give him my 'Very Best Wishes- I'm glad that he is out of Hospital.
