Red marks on body

Hey guys I’ve got red marks appearing on my chest upper arms and back, it’s seems to be under my skin rather than a rash I asked my Vasculitis doctor and he said it was because of steroids I’ve been on for over a year and just wondering if anyone else got these and if they go away ? 😄

Are they maybe petechiae or purpurae? Same thing but the name changes with size

The image there shows a large area - sort of result you would get if you scraped against something hard. But they can also appear singly or just a few. They are due to the capillaries (tiny blood vessels) in the top layers of the skin becoming more fragile due to the pred and leaking blood to form the spots. They will fade over time but the bigger ones tend to leave a darker patch of skin and that is where they tend to appear again.

I have been on steroids on and off since 2018 and had another episode of the vasculitis on my lung started coughing up blood, lo Al hospital started me on 60mg of prednisone for 2 weeks then 28 days of 40mg down to 20mg now then every 2 weeks reducing until 5mg, well that's the plan at the moment, going for 2nd rituximab infusion next week, so getting back to your question as yet I haven't had any complications as yet like your but that doesn't mean I won't have from the steroids, your rash does bring back memories of how I first noticed something was going on in my body though,

Ahh hope your well cookyboy1 and thanks for the reply! I started on 60mg like you but I’m on 1mg prednisone and due to come of them next week fingers crossed 🤞 but I’ve had 4 rituximab infusions and they seemed to have worked well for me

It's looking like it might work for me, only had the 1 infusion so far but with no side affects, but will keep in touch L/P 05

Hi everyone, Noticed yesterday that my left foot seemed to be larger than normal, put it down to not walking so much being stuck inside, but just got up this morning after lying in bed night it's still swollen when you might think after lying down the fluid would have moved around to other parts of your body? Had my first infusion on the 17th of this month just wondered if it had anything to do with that as have researched and it said any swelling of hands, legs, feet ankles contact the doctor, what's your thoughts on this please,

Not what you're looking for?
