Hi I have GPA. I have been referred to cardiology for chest pain. I was wondering if anyone had GPA associated chest pain?

I also have GPA and a heart condition (left ventricular dysfunction), but it is not suspected to be related. Vasculitis only very rarely effects the heart.

Although not cardiology related, I do have some damage to my lungs from vasculitis. My chest is always in pain and I constantly cough up phlegm.

Many thanks for replying gilders. I hadn't heard of a connection between GPA and heart disease. My vasculitis consultant says we are at greater risk for stroke and heart disease so has referred me for a heart scan and to the cardiologist within the next couple of weeks.

Hi, I was diagnosed wuth GPA in 2016 and started high dise if Pred then Cyclophoshamide and many other drugs, had pain and difficulty breathing (sharp stabbing pain when I tried to take a deep breath) in April 2017, scan revealed a dark mass around my heart. 10th Cyclophoshamide infusion was cancelled and I was admitted to hospital under cardiology. They told me that the dark mass was a build up of "fluid" in the cavity where my heart and lungs were, this was restricting my lungs and putting stress in my heart so they did a pericardial effusion where there put a tube in from below my ribs and up into the cavity..... very painful experience! As soon as they did this the fluid drained away....over 1.5 litres of dark, redish black blood like stuff? Breathing eased straight away but later my heart rate was very erratuc and high, was crashe called in middle of night and they stabilized me with some drugs? Was kept in for over a week but had to take beta blockers for months after.
