Hi there - I’ve been diagnosed with vasculitus (GPA) - is this classed as a critical illness?

Critical illness
Am I right in assuming you are asking this as relevant to insurance cover for critical illness?
If so, this may help understand it a bit:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criti...
and if that is the case you would have to ask your insurance company whether they deem vasculitis a critical illness. It may say in the small print - though I suspect it is unlikely. But it is also well know that the providers will do a great deal to avoid paying out.
If you ask for another reason - please explain so we know how to answer.
If you are asking for other than insurance reasons, whether or not it is a serious illness depends on whether it is in limited form, or full blown. Before the introduction of steroids in the 1960's , it was indeed very serious and even fatal. However, today, with the steroids and other drugs available, it is quite manageable. One can lead a relatively normal life under good medical supervision.
I have full blown vasculitis. My flare ups last 2 to 3 weeks. For me, pills and injections steriods do not work to maintain the pain. When a flare up gets a out of control, I have to spend 3 to 4 days in the hospital to get 3 large iv bags of steriods. So yeah, pretty critical for someone whos case is very active. Everyone's experience is different of course.
