Is it advisable or beneficial to have this vaccine if you have had shingles?

Hi,

Like you I have had shingles (unfortunately on 2 occasions) but as I understand it as it is a live vaccine it is contra indicated if someone is on long term steroids or Methotrexate etc. Hope this helps.

As far as I understand it the shingles vaccine for people aged 70 and 79 is a live vaccine and may cause illness in some people whose immune systems are not working properly due to their disease or to some types of immunosuppressive medication. This includes people taking high dose steroids, chemotherapy drugs and some other immunosuppressants so I suggest you talk to your consultant who you see for your Vasculitis.
