In 2012 I developed leg ulcers on both lower legs which when tested proved to be vasculitic caused. I was referred to tissue viability nurses who treated the lesions initially with various ointment dressings( work with them to find which works best for you) and 4 layer compression bandaging and which had to be dressed every few days. Here, district nurses trained in compression bandaging can come to your home to dress your legs. I was told by the tissue viability nurses that that the ulcers could take up to year to heal. However, in the event, the ulcers cleared within six months. Scarring is minimum ( massaging Vit. E cream on the leg scar after bathing helps ). However because of the vasculitis affecting the veins in my legs I have to wear compression stockings daily. These were initially supplied by the hospital and now my own surgery prescribes them as necessary. I hope this helps. Dave
