Possible problem with Azathioprine

I was due to increase my daily dose from 50mg to 75mg, but due to liver tests not looking too good I've been told to stay on 50mg. Have to see what happens after next week's blood test!

I hope the liver results improve soon.

mine are a bit wobbly sometimes and repeats need doing, but it usually settles down.

it's good that they're keeping an eye on things,

let us know how you go on,

regards,

sadra.

Dear Suffolkgirl,

I have been on azathioprine, 150 mg daily, for about sixteen years; it keeps me alive!- without too many problems. The doctors, especially my own GP, seem concerned about possible 'side effects' but, all my blood tests, seem to indicate all is well. When I say 'well' I don't actually mean well, as such, just not dead yet!!

Seriously though if you have any concerns, and liver problems are listed as possible 'areas of concern' do talk to you doctors/consultants. I assume that alternate drugs exist, you can't be the only person who ever had a reaction to aza. so do seek an alternative.

Please let me, us all, know how you get on will you?

Good luck
