IGA Recurring, second transplant...?

Hi, wondering if anyone has any experience/knowledge about IGA Nephropathy recurring..? My husband had a living donor transplant in 2014 from his mother, but unfortunately we have recently discovered that IGA has returned to his transplanted kidney which is now failing (GFR 18). Today the doctor told him to start thinking about a second transplant, which confused us as we had read that if IGA returns quickly (in the first few years) a second transplant may be discouraged. Would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about this - we are hoping a second transplant may be possible but also feeling the need to be realistic about the risk of the disease recurring quickly again...Thanks!

I have IgA nephropathy and had a transplant in 2014 as well. I had a biopsy a few short months after transplant which showed my disease in my new kidney. But my transplant doc was quick to let me know that because IgA is an auto immune disease that it will always be there. This disease is also a slow progressing disease.
