Antihistamine

Hello everyone.

My tinnitus started 3 months ago on one side only after an ear infection. I usually take piriton now for hayfever. Obviously I know a lot of tablets are ototoxic. Do any of you take antihistamines? If so which ones? Do you find it affects your tinnitus?

Thanks everyone wishing you a great weekend too. 😀

Good morning. I take Piriton for hay fever and it has no effect on my tinnitus, which I have 24/7.

Thank you for your reply. I took piriton for years and it certainly never caused tinnitus. I think having tinnitus makes you paranoid about everything. I will go back to taking it your reply was helpful.

That’s good. Yes I agree having tinnitus does make you think twice about meds. So far I have found nothing makes it better or worse🤞have a good weekend.x

That's interesting to know. It sounds like it's best to not worry too much about meds. Thanks for your reply once less worry now I am starting piriton again. Have a lovely weekend. 😀

I would be concerned about meds. Arthritis gel. Ibuprofen, cortisone injections all give me tinnitus within hours if I don't have it at the time. I look up all medicines to check. Also diet. High sugar, syrup, berries, spinach, many spices and many more foods contain salicylates, which contribute to tinnitus. I check most foods. This is fine with me, because I'm 75% without it now.

Thanks for replying Georgie. It does sound sensible to check meds then. Can I ask you where you check for side effects? Is there a particular website to look on? I had no idea about diet too. I have never heard of salicylates I will take a look. It's amazing you are 75% without tinnitus now. Is that since changing your diet and medication?
