Hi Vivienne, sorry to hear. I have PT on and off for some years. The rest of the time I just have T! 😀

My feeling is that it is caused by muscular / spinal issues in my neck caused by working on a PC for 40 years. I have not though cured it so far! The comforting thing is that there are so many similar sufferers and that it's not something really bad. Happy to share experiences though as I think I have gone through every known treatment. The main thing is to not concentrate on it and find distractions. During the day I manage it. The worst thing for me is when I wake up in the morning. It seems to be worse then. Good luck

Hi MickJF, I have had PT for 15 or more years now and have thought for the past couple of years it may be connected to my ever stiffening neck! Strangely enough I have been to see an osteopath this morning about it and while he doesn't know if neck massage will help the tinnitus he said I do have a lot of stiffness and that I probably have had for years.

After just 1 visit I do still have the noise but it has really helped my neck and I'm going to give it a few weeks - I'll report back.

You might want to check your blood pressure, if it’s high BP pills could help with the PT.

Hello, yes I am a fellow pulsatile tinnitus recipient! I have had it in both ears at different times, and was diagnosed with a left side vascular loop as the probably cause after an MRI. Not a problem other than the tinnitus. Strangely on that side it disappeared after I had a Cochlear Implant for profound left-sided deafness. I now have it on the right and will see the specialist in a couple more weeks and am expecting another MRI will be suggested. On the right side it comes and goes. It seems worse in the evenings. When it's not pulsing I just have regular l tinnitus which I also have in the implanted ear. It is also somewhat affected by position; not to the point that changing position stops it, but is I, say, bend down, it will stop for a few seconds or more, but if I stay in that position it starts up. I find it annoying but unless there is actually an underlying problem it remains just that, annoying. Who made your diagnosis? After all it's pretty easy to diagnose but depending on who did the diagnosis you might want to see a specialist or get referred for an MRI. If it's single sided, while the likelihood is there is nothing major wrong at all, it can also, rarely, be a symptom of things such as a brain tumour and therefore needs to be ruled out. Usually it's just another manifestation of tinnitus.

hi sixapple Vivienne, I have pulsatile tinnitus. I can hear my blood flow! Sometimes is louder, sometimes softer. Plus I also have regular tinnitus. The doctors may refer you for an MRI and /or CT angio/venogram, just to rule out benign tumors or vascular abnormalities. In the majority of the cases, nothing of concern is found. My mri was clear too and waiting for Ct. is yours unilateral or on both sides? Have you got hearing loss in the affected ear?
