Recommendations for overcoming dizzy episodes?

I have Tinnitus and Pulsatile tinnitus, since summer have had intermittent muffled ears, bit of dizziness.

Past 3 weeks have had 24/7 clogged muffled ears like I've got my entire head wrapped in cotton wool and then in a box. What as really hit me hard is the swoosh of dizziness that suddenly hits me, generally when I'm sat, looking down...doing a crossword, trying to do a jigsaw...both things I love but have had to leave as they floor me. I've just written a very short shopping list and pow! It hits me like one of those big 🥊from the side in the old comedy sketches. So it's looking down where my eyes may be scanning. Reading is fine as I can hold it in front of me.

Saw the GP 1 week ago...she said Eustachian tube effusion and gave me Avamys for 4 weeks, return if symptoms worsen. So I don't want to bother her again, give it the time needed, and appreciate is very clearly related to the ears.

But I just wanted to know if anybody can advise how to manage these episodes....They generally last about 20 - 25 mins before I feel I can get up without wobbling...but can I do anything to recover more quickly or just minimise the impact....and when can I do my jigsaws again 😊

Thank you in advance

this could be BPPV or labyrinthitis. Look them up on NHS website. In either case there’s no cure but it should wear off after two or three weeks. If you don’t want to bother the doctor, talk to your your pharmacist who might suggest for some travel pills. These might help.

Also, look up “vestibular rehabilitation exercises” and do the ones where you sit and move your head or eyes. They are to train your brain to believe your eyes and not your balance mechanism, which is currently faulty.

BUT im not a doctor, I’m diagnosing from what you said and I could be completely wrong.

There are exercises that you can do to help with dizziness if it’s benign positional vertigo. They are quick and easy to do. Sometimes it’s caused by crystals in the ear that have moved, you just need to move them away so they don’t cause a problem. I once had labyrinthitis and couldn’t get out of bed for over a week, if I tried to walk I would be sick. I got some pills for that from the Dr.
