I need to know what I have, it's driving me freaking crazy.

ENTs can't help me and I don't have audiologist in my region.

Monday morning I woke up with a weird feeling in my right ear, it felt more sensitive and muffled.

Like there wasn't noise around me but I felt that it was (still is) more sensitive.

Since Monday, there are some sounds (like spoons, forks, plates etc.) that cause an uncomfortable thump in my ear. It's like it's sensitive to this type of sounds and creates this thump. Sometimes, even in silence, I feel a veeeeeery very light pain in that ear (remember that it's the right ear), pain in the right side of my jaw and pain in my right temple and head.

Now, Hyperacusis and Noxacusis are my worst fears and nightmares and I'm scared I might have them, I'm reading so much horror stories.

But at the same time I feel like Tensor Tonic Tympany Syndrome it's what better describes my symptoms..the only this is that I feel the thump ONLY when there's a specific noise.

I don't know what to think and do, I'm in total panic.

It’s very unlikely you have anything seriously wrong…..you may just have some wax in your ear pressing on a nerve.

You say your ENT doctor can’t help you , so try having a word with your family doctor about your anxieties.

moonlover, you seem to be asking for a diagnosis and we can’t give that here - all we can do is give hints and tips about what works for us as far as tinnitus is concerned.

I see you live in Italy and you have a different health system from me, so I’m not sure the pathways you should take to get a diagnosis. At the moment you’re concentrating on the noises in your head, and all the other bits, and this concentration makes things worse. I would urge you not to try and research too much, as Doctor Google can be misleading. Certainly DONT believe any cures you see advertised. And Tinnitus Talk is, in my view, unhelpful if you’ve been there.

I think we’ve talked about Tinnitus UK before when you have posted. Please have another look at their website for hints and tips, or read posts here and their replies.

Hi! We all have different kinds of noises in our ears!😅Don’t worry!

Why don’t you see a dentist? Maybe it is something wrong with a tooth or the jaw.

Good health!

I know how disturbing this can be, as I have experienced something similar.

A few years ago, I had a crisis with my ears and following that I had weird feelings in my ears (sometimes tension and sometimes tickling/trickling sensations) and a period of hyperacusis, which linger to a certain extent to this day. One of the most annoying effects was a response to certain sounds in my right ear that felt like a movement in my ear (sometimes like a flutter), which was often accompanied by a thump and momentary pain. It was a horrible sensation and it could hit me at any time, depending on the sounds in my environment - it seemed to be provoked by certain frequencies. The human voice often triggered it, which was particularly frustrating and problematic. I could also get spontaneous fluttering in either ear, not triggered by anything. I discussed it with ENT specialists, both NHS and private. The NHS specialist wasn't very interested, dismissing it as rare, and the private specialist seemed to go along with my suspicion that it was a muscle spasm in my ear, perhaps related to TTTS.

I suffered from this for about three and a half years. It was variable, sometimes worse or better than at other times. At the start of this year, it seemed to become less problematic. Then I started to take daily vitamin/mineral tablets and it hasn't bothered me since (touch wood!). Perhaps my body was lacking something. However, I still sometimes get the spontaneous twitches/flutters in both ears. I also had a mild tickling/itching sensation in my left ear in response to certain high-frequency sounds and I still get that, but it isn't as disturbing as the twitches/thumps/pain I was getting in my right ear.

This may subside of its own accord for you. Often when you have ear problems, they are worse at the start and eventually settle down.
