Sleep Apnoea

I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Disorder (OSD) back in 2013. Since then I wear l a C-pap machine and mask when I go to bed. The summer months are the worst, due to the hot nights. Also I have Tinnitus, Anxiety and PTSD. I believe and with my sleep apnoea these medical issues definitely make my medical issues worse. For example C-pap machine blows air down my throat, the reaction is insomnia, sore throat, ears blocked in the morning, Tinnitus high pitched whistling, which makes me anxious, then I fall asleep during the day especially after a meal, then the flashbacks re PTSD start, also my memory is effected, this is not everyday as some of my issues start, stop and mix up with the other symptoms. As you can imagine I am fed up. So if anyone can help with advice, therapy, counceling, alternative therapy, I would love to hear from you. Thank you in advance

to me this absolutely sounds like one for counselling or psychotherapy.

Hi HappyrosieI totally agree with you. The waiting times are appallingly long I been told by the local MHT that July is the earliest and then they might outsource me to a private organisation for CBT. Tinnitus again I was seen by a specialist 2/3 appointments then fobbed off, the sleep apnoea is ongoing remotely via my C-pap. Thank you for responding.

This C pap machine your using , you say it blows air down your throat, is this the only machine out there because obviously it’s making your throat far too dry , is there anything else out there you could try? You have an enormous amount to put up with even without the tinnitus, I expect all the stress of this is what’s given you the tinnitus in the first place. I would go back to the doctor and discuss everything with him . I really feel for you and hope that a solution can help you.

Hi Rabbits65Firstly, thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions. I totally agree with what you have said I will contact my GP again later on today and pose the question for a re-evaluation of my issues.

Kindest regards

I have a good friend whose husband uses one of these machines at night , she tells me that he has a built in de humidifier in his machine, this stops the dry air going down his throat, they are expensive to buy but worth it she said.
