Has anyone been prescribed Quviviq (daridorexant) for sleep?

As I'm sure for most of us sleep is a huge factor of our suffering.

I've recently been prescribed Quviviq (daridorexant) which is a medication specifically designed for sleep. I've been taking 50g for three weeks and it has been quite successful. I'm now getting over 7 hours sleep a night or if I do wake up I get back to sleep fairly quickly. However, I have been getting side effects which can make me feel tired during the day and lethargic. I've also had a recent episode of stress and restless night, but realised later in the day I'd forgotten to take my tablet the night before. I also continue to use a headband at night and continue to take Sertraline to help with the anxiety. Poor sleep is everyday a factor of anxiety so I'm hoping this has been a positive step forward.

Has anyone had experience of these tablets?

Incidentally I've not been on this forum for sometimes. I've stated a new full-time job and wanted to take my focus away from Tinnitus. However my recent prescription has come from an episode of Burnout from trying to hard.

I will continue to adopt my other strategies and remain positive about accepting Tinnitus. I'm also very acutely aware this is still early days for this new treatment. Still, I wanted to share.

I haven't but I do use Phenegren - OTC Sleep-Aid - I take it as required - in so much as I know early evening if I'm restless, T is super loud and I'm going to need some help getting to sleep. This happens maybe a couple of times a week - was more than that before. The Phenegren will gently put me down for about 7/8 hours and although groggy on waking - this doesn't last more than 20 minutes or so. For me this is perfect.

I also take Sertraline so the Phenegren seems to fit happily with it and no Sides at all to speak of. Maybe discuss it with your GP.

Good luck and peace out.

Hi Dave,

I haven't heard of it, and it is interesting. Of course you are right about the impact of sleep disturbance. My problem has always been staying asleep rather than going to sleep, but in any case I gave up on the idea of medication when amitriptyline didn't work 8 years ago. I tend to assume (and have heard), that doctors don't give potentially open ended prescriptions for sleeping issues. Please do keep us informed of your experience over time.

Best wishes for the new job - and all else.

I avoided AD medication for years following bad experience on Amitriptyline.

It is true that sleep medication is open ended. Quviviq (daridorexant) I was told by my doctor is the first medication to target sleep, as opposed to the likes of antidepressants, or as you say open-ended medications. Though even from there own website Quviviq state "Unlike medications that work by sedating the brain, QUVIVIQ is thought to turn down overactive wake signals, helping you fall asleep and stay asleep." - quviviq.com/learn

Nonetheless, it's worked for me so far. We all different though.

I take a low dose of Sertraline to help with the anxiety bought on by T, and a very low dose of Amitriptyline for night time 3 times a work and everything is under control. If you’re new then in time the brain should adapt to what it might think of as a threat. Good luck fella
