Hello Sun_1234

Amitriptyline is often prescribed for pain relief and to treat migraine. One of the effects it can have for some users is to make them feel tired and allow them to sleep. This may be one of the reasons that it can be prescribed for people new to tinnitus who have difficulty resting or feel agitated. If you have any concerns about it, or queries about why it has been prescribed, talking to your doctor would be best.

The NHS has a guide to this medication which may answer some of your questions about it - nhs.uk/medicines/amitriptyl...

Like most drugs, its effect differs from person to person. I was first prescribed it for post-herpetic neuralgia (pre-tinnitus), and it made me sleep wonderfully well, without leaving me too lethargic next morning.

When my T worsened, years later, I tried it again, but it was not effective against it.

It is generally considered a benign medication (I believe), and most people tolerate it well. Definitely worth a try.

It says on the box I’ve got to take at night , it would make me too drowsy in the day . I don’t need this drug much anymore . It is very useful for anxiety and some nerve pain .

Yes It is good for sleeping but it is prescribed for many reasons. If you have any concerns you should speak with your doctor. I use to take it but it made me tired all day long
