I wrote a post on cognitive disorders a few weeks ago, following a diagnosis of FND (Functional Neurological Disorder) - although I may have only mentioned it in passing. I was very sceptical. In fact, I still remain quite unsure, but there are a number of symptoms that do make it plausible. I've also read recently the noise sensitivity is linked to FND.
So!!! Last weekend, I awoke Sunday evening (with my insomnia, it's not unusual for me to have an afternoon nap). I realized my car was missing. I checked up and down the street but nothing. At this point, I was quite disoriented so despite the car (a landrover) which are known target for thieves, I just thought as my wife was out she'd taken it - though she has her own car. Then my wife, came from walking the dog. She said I'd slept since Friday night (two days). My car was in the garage awaiting a part. I soon realized I couldn't remember what had happened at all that week and very little about January. Amnesia is part of FND.
This wasn't the first time I'd experience more than just forgetfulness. Last May I woke up for work disoriented and on my way to work if forgotten the route. Likewise I was struggled to remember the last week. I put it down to insomnia. Equally my focus and concentration that hasn't been perfect for sometime, I've also put down to poor sleep. So I slowly recovered from that incident, but was in light duties at work and I'm under the care of Neurology, who had diagnosed FND in December. I'd come to dismiss this as I was awaiting further tests. In fact, I had this a couple of weeks ago and as part of my amnesia I don't really remember it.
In the grand scheme of things I do not have any physical and disabling symptoms - Yet! For which I am greatly thankful. There is a very helpful HU forum where I'm getting good advice, although their are over 200 symptoms and everyone is very different.
So my ultimate question, h@as anyone experienced or have similar symptoms as a result of poor cognitive or cognitive disorder linked with Tinnitus.
