Hi, just wondering how you cope with tinnitus at work or in social occasions, I met a friend for coffee the building was large and I found a good space next to the window away from other customers, everything was going fine until different conversations were going on, the general hubub made me forget what I was saying and having to ask my friend to repeat herself more and more, obviously I was getting stressed and anxious and had to call an end to our meeting, this was a normal pleasant atmosphere, I found it very upsetting, we will be meeting again but how do you cope?

Tinnitus and work
Yes I agree with you , it’s very difficult and upsetting , only today I was having a pot of tea with my sister in a large Cafe and the clatter of China , people moving chairs in and out and the staff clattering trays and tables made it all echo and I found it very hard . No answer I’m afraid . . I think I have a touch of Hyperacusis as well as tinnitus . I just put up with it but wondered why I bothered .
I know what you mean, by the time I was leaving I had brain fog, people think I'm away with the fairies and I feel like I've stood still in time with everything moving around me.
I experience exactly the same thing, I have CRCI so the T and this together mean that it's impossible for me to meet and talk to people outside of quite a tight circle of relatives, the memory difficulties and word recall problems I have make conversations difficult, the T just puts the tin cap on it and I get really panicked if there's a meeting I cannot avoid and there's any background noise because I know that I stand no chance of communicating - the exhaustion of trying can knock me out for several days.
