Yes I had something similar with some differences. Mine is still ongoing. You may found yours gets better on its own. Always follow up sooner rather then later :)

Hi Gazza, yes I had the same. I had bad ear infection due to me using cotton bud in ear and my dog jumped up and pushed it in. I was prescribed otomize ear spray. My hearing went down on High pitched sounds. Then I suddenly had tinnitus!!

I went back to see the nurse and she said I had a perforated ear drum !

Looking into otomize ingredients it says it has neomycin i. It which should not be used with a perforated ear drum!!

I was due to have an operation to close my confronted eardrum last March, but obviously Covid hit!! I still have a perforated ear drum and tinnitus !

Have also been prescribed some NHS hearing aids due to sensoneurial (I think that’s how you spell it but I’m not sure ) Hearing loss loss.

I’m now waiting to get the perforation closed up and we will see from there but that is my story.

Thanks for the reply Jubac I have been back to doctor he looked in my ear said it was clear I was also using earbuds but he didn’t say about perforated drum ? Can general doctor see the drum ? I have ent appointment but not until 13th april my anxiety is through roof googling says acoustic neuroma. Not much pain just one side tinnitus and certain loud noises irritating.

Hi Gaza, I’m sure a doctor can see your eardrum with an otoscope. I paid for an mri to see if I had an acoustic neuroma as I googled that too. I didn’t have one 👍 just constant tinnitus. Good luck with your appointment on 13 April. Try not to get too anxious as that makes it worse. I know easier said than done. At bedtime I pretend the noise is a boiling kettle and think ooh I will have a lovely cup of tea. Sounds ridiculous I know. Let me know how you get on 👍👍

Same thing happened to me with otomize. Have tinnitus after using it 6 months ago. Goodness knows why they prescribe it. I had a perforated ear drum in that ear but it was over 40 years ago. Do you think that had anything to do with it?
