It's a subjective disorder, so it depends on the individual. You can habituate, on your own or using therapies, such as sound therapy and CBT.

I've had mine 24/7 for about a year now, but it doesn't bother me now unless I'm tired or anxious about something. I can even just listen to my tinnitus. So I can have bad days, good days or bad weeks and good weeks.

I find it best to keep busy to take my mind off it and avoid relying on sound therapy unless I'm having a particularly be day with it.

Hello Deltec. I think it's fair to say that, yes, tinnitus can calm down on its own. This is a classic model of habituation, where as time goes on you find that the noise is less and less noticeable. This clearly is not yet the case for you, but that doesn't mean that it won't happen.

It does seem that you are still finding it difficult to not pay attention to the noise and as a result you may be losing out on the benefits which your hearing aids (I'm referring to some of your other posts over the weekend) can provide. They're not necessarily intended to mask your tinnitus but to give you different options on things to listen out for in your environment.

That, combined with other things which can distract you, will help you to get into a head space where tinnitus becomes dull, monotonous and not something which you find interesting enough to listen to actively. If it doesn't change that much, why spend the time to listen to it? All that does ultimately is remind you that tinnitus is present and sends a message to the brain that this particular sound is one which you want to be made aware of.

What is it about the last eight days which has increased your awareness of tinnitus?

Yes it most cases it does it differs from person to person relaxation is the key to managing your T.
