ENT appointment with all the regular tests plus audiologist for hearing test etc. Now have hearing aids that play the right frequency for my tinnitus.

No hearing loss whatsoever as it’s a limbic system disorder. Nothing to do with the ears

Hello Lynstone. I began to really notice T about fifteen years ago. When I had hearing aids fitted (because of reduced hearing) I mentioned this to the audiologist. As I was coping very well, I’ve had no further referrals or treatment.

Since I’ve been on this T website via Health Unlocked, I’ve noticed the T much more - just because I’m reading about it and responding to posts. I now believe that I’ve had the T also at all my life and just assumed everyone had this noise - so I’ve never felt ‘different’ or ‘put-upon’, I’ve just felt it was part of life. Just like having brown hair is part of my life. (Not that’s it’s brown now, at age 74!!!)

So I’ve never needed any help with it, though it’s louder than the car engine when I’m driving. But I’ve learned to tune it out,

I hope that you too will learn to live with it.

Many years ago I developed tinnitus due to exposure due to long term exposure to loud noise.

I went to one ENT appointment Hoping for a positive diagnosis but was told very bluntly by the specialist that it was unlikely to get any better and at the time there was no cure for It and go out and get on with my life.

I walked out of the surgery in total shock and disbelief but in retrospect it was the best think she could have said.

I did just what she said and 35 years later still have it but look for the positives in life.

Sorry if you find this post unhelpful !!!

Wow oh bless you .do you have it in both or just one ear ? What kind of noise is yours mine is very high pitched ...I am having hearing test tomorrow so I suppose I will find out if I have hearing loss as mine is only in the left ear .I have always worked in noisy warehouses all my life .do you find any relief at all ?

I have T in both ears a high pitched noise. I find the best relief is to keep busy and make sure I am tired before I go to bed so I sleep deeply. Best of luck with your appointment. Let us all know how it goes.
