Can anyone help please.I have tried everything to help.
Im at my wits end. No sleep just constant Pulsatile Tinitus.
Im seeing my consultant 16th April. Any advise would be great. They seem to dismiss it as if I have no choice other than to put up with it. I just dont know what to do.
I have a constant headache. Nothing takes it away.
Im off work at the moment.
I dont feel like I can go back. I cant concentrate.
Everything is just a struggle to get through each day.

Yes I have that regularly and was the same as you.I googled how to get rid of it and it worked for me ,I think I went into u tube and it showed various ways.Let me know how you get on.
Pulsatile Tinnitus can be challenging because it's a symptom which may not have a solution - people are perceiving what are normal, for the most part benign signals which can feel distressing if they are worried about their cause.
If the normal checks have been carried out at hospital visits and there isn't anything medically problematic causing these sounds, then there is a limited amount that can be done. One US-based ENT blog that I visit regularly describes pulsatile tinnitus as usually nothing serious but untreatable (dizziness-and-balance.com/d.... A
If that is the case - that, like a lot of tinnitus sounds, the emotional impact of the symptom is far more dramatic than the underlying cause of the symptom - then I think we're looking more at ways to reduce that emotional response than seeking a resolution for a problem which may not have one (to be clear - pulsatile tinnitus might not have a treatment, but the issues arising from it like anxiety or stress certainly do).
I hope that your upcoming appointment offers you some reassurance and that you soon find yourself able to re-establish a restful and relaxing sleeping pattern.
I have PT and, at first, found it impossible to sleep. Lack of sleep then made it so much worse so I found myself in a vicious circle.
One thing to try is a cheap Bluetooth speaker headband. They are very cheap on Amazon and work reasonably well. Before I bought my much more expensive sleeping headphones, I used them and streamed background noise from my phone all night. It made a huge difference.
You should also speak to your GP. Maybe suggest Amitriptyline. It can help with headaches and also makes you sleepy so taking it at night can be a bonus. I get a lot of headaches so use this daily.
It is a long shot but also look up SSCD and see if you have any of the other symptoms. The first ENT I saw just dismissed me but the second one suspected SSCD and it turns out I have it. The good news is that there are surgical options for it. The bad news, for me, is that the surgeries did not work all that well.
I know it is hard to imagine now but it will get easier. I’m a few years in and have 24x7 bilateral PT and live reasonably well with it. It sometimes gets me down and I’d love to have just 10 minutes of silence but, most of the time, it doesn’t bother me all that much.
I would recommend seeing a cranial osteopathic. Mine is caused by a stiff neck especially if I’m doing lots of computer work, upper body exercises and holding stress in my neck as well as grinding my teeth- too much tension in the jaw and neck.
Thank you.Do you know what I do grind my teeth. I have osteoarthritis in my neck and it causes me problems. All my head shoulders and neck are always tense and tight. I have to try and remember to relax.
Hello Furbabies forever - I also have Pulsatile Tinnitus and feel the same way as you describe - it started three months ago - it is constant and I can't sleep - at my wits end - I am looking for a specialist who can help - please let me know how your consultation goes. Kind regards,
Hello - I am also really struggling with my pulsatile tinnitus and replied to your last post - I have been thinking of you since and wonder how you got on with your Consultation?
I saw my Consultant who had not received any results from 2 and a half hrs of tests at the Hallamshire Hospital 3 weeks ago.I was told just tues of this week that the Jugular vein has moved nearer to my ear drum thus it being pulsatile. Nothing they could do.
Im now discharged from Hospital. They have wriiten to my gp for them to refer me to Neurology?.
Its not just Pulsatile tinnitus. I get the whoosing the whistling in my ears.
Thank you so much for letting me know the outcome of your Consultation - does it make you feel any better to know what is causing your Pulsatile Tinnitus even though they say there is nothing they can do? - I have been to a Neurologist - had MRI which was normal so still don't know what the underlying cause may be - I feel if I can find out then I may have a chance of it being treated but just seem to be coming up against a 'blank wall' - meanwhile, like you I am really struggling - just can't sleep as I also have the constant whooshing/thumping/whistling in my ears and a feeling of pressure in my head - please keep in touch as it sounds as though we are fellow PT sufferers .
