last night after so many nights with poor sleep , I had to take a sleeping pill. My anxiety is over the roof with this T and is getting worse at night. In the mornings is also bad. I can’t control my anxiety and that is horrible.

I don’t understand how is possible for me to create the noise like the doctor says , it’s becouse of my anxiety.

Hi, I have been experiencing a loud hum in my ear for over five weeks. I was at my lowest point ever last week. I’ve been given antibiotics, steroids but nothing worked. The ENT consultant suspected an inner ear viral infection. I’m also awaiting results of an MRI scan. Try and not to panic which I know is not easy. I’m into week six and I’m seeing some kind of an improvement. Noise initially made it worse but walking outside covered it up a bit. Now I listen to a tinnitus app before bed and put a timer on. I hope it improves for you soon

Hi there, I don’t know much about how things started for you but it’s absolutely ok to take some meds if you’re struggling. I had to take diazepam and zopiclone when things were at their worst. I don’t take them now but I am 6 months down the line. Most ENT and tinnitus specialists say the tinnitus is to do with hearing loss but this is NOT true for everyone. Mine is damage to auditory nerves from a labyrinthitis infection. I take sertraline to help with the emotional and psychological effects of things.

Yes anxiety makes things worse but it’s a cycle and completely ok to medicate if you’re struggling.

Let me know a bit more of your history so I can understand. Best wishes

Hi it’s perfectly normal to feel frightened about tinnitus , when I first got it 4 years ago , I thought to myself there is no way I can live with this. I developed it after having a grommet put in my ear, I then had the grommet taken out and in 3 times , a bone removed from my ear and I’m now onto my second cochlear implant. I kept begging the Drs to try and fix the tinnitus but each op made it worse, I now have ringing and horrible pain. So don’t go down that part if you don’t have to. I take medicine to help me sleep and tabs to help with anxiety, they really help me. I am finally getting on with my life and the tears have stopped . You will too, good luck! Don’t be hard on yourself . Jenny

Hi sorry to know your T has got worse over the days, I sympathetize with you because I know how it feels not be able to sleep expecially when you have to work the next day. What I will suggest is the you see your doctor again because I have come to understand after researching about T that it has nothing to do with our ears but our brain activity waves that has communication problems making that sound in our head, this can be an underlying serious issue and you may need a CT scan to erase any suspicious of tourmor in the brain to anything else so ask your doctor because the medication we are popping will also affect us one day and if we can treat it better than good all the best my love x

Hi, I think a lot of us have been were you are now, and I know how it feels. At the begining when I was in a bad way with depression, anxiety and insomnia, I was given anti depressers and sleeping tablets. The anti-depressers made me worse so I stopped them quickly and then another doctor prescibed anti anxiety pills, Prazepam. These worked really well for me, and with less anxiety I started sleeping better. They can be addictive though, so be careful.

I don't take anything now and am learning to live with the noise, but it's important to remember that every case is different, and lots of people get better or just habituate, so be strong , you will find a solution.

I take clonazepam when my anxiety peaks. A bottle of ten .5 milligram tablets has lasted almost a year. I cut them in fourths and take only when the anxiety is extreme. Sometimes we need help through the worst moments, there is no shame in this at all.

I have had high pitch tinnitus for two and a half years, no let up.
