has anyone else has T based on anxiety? Does the T go when you take Diazepam? or anything else?

Hello,

Consciously or subconsciously anxiety is thought to play a part in the T of most people whose symptoms have no physical cause. Of course the level of anxiety, and the degree to which the sufferer is aware of it, varies widely.

A recorded oddity of diazepam / valium is that it can briefly silence T in people who are, as it were, not expecting it to do so. In my case after suffering for many years I had a back spasm for which diazepam is regularly prescribed as a muscle relaxant. I was amazed to find it switched off my T for a while. The doctor attending did not know I had T, but did know of this effect. When, a year or two later, I had another spasm, and hoped / expected that the Diazepam would do the same trick again, it didn't.

I may be wrong, but I don't think that Diazepam is generally considered a long term treatment for T.

Best wishes.

By all means you can - I have been asking the same thing myself for the past 20+ years, without any satisfactory answer. 🤷‍♂️

Seriously though, some childhood memories make me think that it is innate. Apart from that, headphones that were too loud in my 20s (the illustrated Wharfedale DD1s to be precise), and working far into the silence of the night, night after night, preparing stressful cases as a barrister. I should sue my Clerks (j/k - don't put out a contract on me please guys).

Probably.

please please be very careful taking diazepam it is highly addictive and creates terrible withdrawal if used for a period of time. This is from personal experience with with partner who was using it to manage T.

I took 1mg twice a day for 2 days.. then left it for 2 days as it calms me and reduces my T to a barely audible.. I'm only doing it over the Xmas period.. last time I did it was it my T spiked over a month ago. I tried 7.5mg mirtazapine over 2 days.. T went for 2 days came back... I took 15mg as doctor instructed... it spiked something awful for 2 days.. never go near Mirtazapine again.. I took Diazepam and finally abated... didn't take it again for a month..

Hi there. I have hearing loss with T but it gets worse if I'm anxious. I don't take anything for anxiety. It's better to try to relax as much as possible. The aim is to calm the nervous system down. Natural remedies can be helpful too. L - Theanine is good for women of a certain age. I speak from experience.

I had the worse anxiety during the menopause.. off the chart.. so struggling yo get anxiety down...doctor has prescribed Quetiapine.. 25mg.. I'm scared to take as it might spike the T. Been watching Vik Veer video . interesting to think you can reduce T by not listening to it..
