Sound sensitivity and vibrations

Hi Guys, I had very bad sinusitis for 14 weeks altogether from Sept 2018. Eustachian Tubes were completely blocked for 5 weeks, terrible hearing, tinitus was very loud in right ear.

Eventually this eased but I had to take strong antibiotics which made me spaced out and that gave me anxiety. I ended up taking amiltriptalene to ease the anxiety.

This worked well, but the tinitus continued along with different ear problems, sounds were echoed sometimes, felt like a tube was over one ear, sounds like jingling cutlery hurt , noise sensitivity continues. I stopped taling the amiltriptalene in case they caused the issues. Stopped it aprox 4 weeks ago. Tinitus less noisy but noise sensitivity still there with some ear vibrations, sometimes when speaking too. Stilk have sinus issues, seeing ENT who diagnoset Eustachian Tube dysfunction. Going back to see him sn. I just want this to ease up. Any advise greatfully recieved. Thanks all.

Hi CamperT25

The issues you are having with your ears is all to do with your ETD, the tinnitus, ear vibrations and echoes. Your ears vibrate when the pressure needs to be equalised in your ear, the echoing is when your eustation tube stays open.

I have ETD too caused by sinusitis and reflux, I’ve had it since November, I’ve been given steroid drops and decongestant by my ENT specialist who told me there isn’t much more they can do.

I haven’t used them yet as I want to try the natural method first, steaming with olbas oil twice a day really helps and I was also given an otovent by my GP. I’ve been steaming for a week now and can honestly say my ears feel a little better. I also use a warm compress daily over my ears for 10 minutes each side and carry an olbas inhaler which I sniff throughout the day......it’s a horrible condition and has caused my anxiety to go through the roof, I get high pitched noises and hissing and spend a lot of time

covering my ears if I hear a strange noise. A couple of months back I also had the sensitivity to noise in my ears, I found wearing earmuffs a great comfort. My left ear was cleaned out in January after I had impacted wax which caused my ear to have a loud rumble and vibrate, the right ear I had microsuctioned 2 weeks ago, the right ear is still sensitive to sound, I can’t use my hairdryer or hoover without it causing my ear to ring.

I really hope you manage to get sorted as I know exactly what you are going through. Please keep us updated and good luck x
