Someone to chat to
I dont mind im struggling too.
Hi thanks tell me about yourself and how you cope with this ringing
Hi, its not my normal T thats botherimg me its a wierd new sound im hearing which iv wriiten my own post on.
In regards to my normal T i have had it nust over 2yrs due to a cold. Tje first 8months were hell and i did not want to live i was very suicidal. However i was told by my audiologist that the first few months are the worst. I stuck it out and after about 8months i started to get used to and my normal T i only hear when im in a quiet room.
So the things iv learned are.
1) dont focus on it , which is easy to say hard to do so i keep myself busy. Im a physiotherapist so i have work to keep me busy and i own a bernese mountain dog who takes a lot of my spare time. Staying busy helps keep away from T. Obsessing over it can make it sound louder.
2) try your best to avoid stress, stress can make T worse so trying to keep a calm as possible is key.
3) protect your ears , my audiologist said that people with Tinnitus have compromised ears so wearing ear protection at loud events or in loud enviroments is important as tinnitus can get worser with exposure to loyd noises like hovers, lawnmowers, drills, cinemas , trains ect. I avoid going out to social places now and dont go to the cinema as mine spiked even with ear protection ( it went back to normal a few days later) but some people are fine at the cinema. If i use puplic transport i wear ear muffs ( the ones i have look more like headphones) i always carry ear muffs with me as you never know.
4) good diet , i have that since cutting out all junk food and eating healthy ( i eat a primal lifestyle) my T improved slightly.
5) supplements, for some supplements can help my audiologist adviced i take 500mg of vitamin C a day and 800mg of magnesium a day. Vitamin C is to shorten the duration of a cold when i do get one as since mine was caused by a cold. The shorter i have a cold the better for T. And the Magnesium is for protection as he said its been proven magnesium can protect the ears from further damage. I have noticed a difference from the Magnesium but i have more energy with the Vitamin C supplement and feel better in myself.
These are some of the things that i have found to help.
Brilliant advice my friend I know how you felt you feel how can I cope with this hell but you do get used to it can be hard to get sleep that's when you really notice it I do have fans running that helps I hope one day we see a totally cure aa I would not whiss this on anyone when I first had it and found out that millions suffer from this so I iam sure they working on it hard to come up with a cure till them we just have to keep going keep busy I know this is a lot hard for some aa this depends on how loud your time is
Yep , it depends on how loud it is and how you cope mentally with it. I also have accepted there will still be bad days even when you think you have got used to it.
Im struggling due to a new tone but im not sure it even is a new tinnitus tone as it sounds like blood rushing to your head but in your ear constantly and i feel this sensation with it. I think im suffering from a mild cold so i think its linked to that but im not even sure if i have a cold as im not suffering with all the normal symptopms only some.
Im hoping neuromod ( i think thats how its spelt) will give us a cure.
Let me know how you get on thare seems to be a lot of different sounds people hear mine is like a loud fridge freezer humiing I have some good days and some not I never thought in end up with this I give every penny I got to make this go away
Me too, id pay anything to get rid of it. You'd think there would be more people wanting to cure it since they'd become rich with how many people around the world suffer with T. I wish there was more public awareness and it taken more seriously as yes it cant kill you like cancer but the mental state it leaves you can. I wish we had a stand up to tinnitus fundraiser like how channel 4 do stand up to tinnitus , im suprised we don't since there are a lot of celebs who have it. If i had millions like them id be investing in a cure.
Im seeing my GP tomorrow to see what she thinks on if i have a cold and if thats whats causing the new Tone. I will let you know how i get on. Im really hoping it only temporary. My normal T sound like a hairdryer but a bit more high pitched.
Yes that's a very good point you think more would be done about this aa millions are suffering from this and your totally right some stars have got this and would not muss a million or to to put in to research
Hi I have had T for quite a few years now but the last 7 months now mine has got worse and things that helped do not work now.mine is both ears and 20/4/7 the trouble with mine is just as I am starting to block the T the volume and tone changes and brings the sound back to me I don’t know if you have seen my post about t shirts I had one made through vista print I says on the front tinnitus you don’t get it till you got it there are so many people out there who don’t know what T is so pass this post on and perhaps have a t shirt made you can pick your own words good luck with your TJohn
