Tinnitus and dog barking

This is my second time with T. Both times I recall my dog barking near me as I tried to ignore him. He’s a small dog so his bark is quite pitchy. Plus my ears are slightly irritated. It went away before after a few days. I’m hoping it will leave again. Has anyone else had the same issue with dog bark? Please help.

Hi , i have owned two dogs one before T and my current with T. My current dog is a Bernese mountain dog and he has never caused a spike with my T. But i use to own a German shepherd before T and i know i could not live with another shepherd as my moms shepherds have spiked my T but there bark is much higher pirched than my bernies bark. Plus bernese are a quiet breed so dont bark oftern compared to GSDs. When it spiked due to my moms GSDs it was only temporary. So you should feel better soon .

Thank you. Yes you are right. A day later it went away. It’s confusing because I thought it was a permanent thing but this is the second time it’s happened and this time it was gone in less than 24 hours. I really could not manage with it here all the time. Now I’m controlling my dog much better so can only pray now that it doesn’t reoccur. The most difficult is sleep deprivation even with music in the evening. I really like to read and during the bouts I can’t have any quiet solace. Thank you again for your support.

Your welcome, spikes mainly are temporary or at least in my case and vary rarley ever become permanent. My Audiologist told me that if a spike has lasted more than 3months then it's permanent. But he said spikes are normally only temporary. He also said spiles are a warning sign too so i had one after going to the cinema to watch avengers with earplugs in for protection but i still spiked it eas gone two days later but he said thats a warning sign so im avoiding the cinema know. As long as you control your dogs barking you should be fine. Little dogs are the worst with there bark being so high pitched but they give us so much love. I would advise as i have done it myself if you ever want a dog in the future choose a more quiter breed.

Anything with repetitive noises like constant dog barking, kids bouncing balls playing shooting at hoops or generally banging noises like a DIY freak neighbour does my head in and sets off my T. I’m on holiday now and get woken by cockerel crowing and today garden trimmers starting at 7am. It’ll calm down later but when repetitive noises are at their peak my T rises up a notch or two. I do my best to walk away from it all by going out for walks. Happy days but hey ho this is our life now like it or lump it!
