Hey
I got PT after a tooth infection.
Im not going to lie... the first 3 weeks i genuinely believed i was going to end my life. I was signed off of work and i thought my life was over. The doctors werent much help either.
But something changed in my brain and although the sound is still there i got the old me back.
I did the following
1. Made sure nothing serious was going on.
2. Did tapping therapy... this really helped.
3. Prayed... this reallly helped
4. Rested...
5. I DID NOT try and mask the sound
6. Told everyone around me 2 give me time as i was struggling.
7. Saw a herbalist... was prescribed some items which i believe improved my mood naturally.
P.s the doctors were so quick to put me on anti depressants... i thank God thay i didnt give in to that.
Ive realised this thing is a like a process and the quicker u accept its gonna be there and its not harmful ur brain will block it out.
Good luck
Thank you for the response..I do understand acceptance is the key to move forward..I'm trying to do that meanwhile I was looking for people who have had tinnitus due to infections and their prognosis..
Well mine arose as a result of an infection. The professionals believe it will go. I am awaiting an MRI and then a CAT scan... NHS have not been the best. The ENT consultant was very dismissive... so i went private.
All i would is research... research research. Go equipped when u see the doctors...
My ENT specialist tells me the same..that it will go ,but cannot give me a timeline as to when.waiting for nature to take its course to heal..Good luck ..
Same. So much the same. Doctor said the same to me as did the Ent doctor told me that it could go in weeks or months but would go and six weeks later I still have it (from an ear infection) and now I’m back at the doctors with an ear infection in the right ear (left has the T). I only wish I could afford private healthcare but that’s way out of my budget unless I happen to win some big bucks lol.
Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum Chitrams. I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.
I can confirm that tinnitus does go after an ear infection - it certainly did in my case, and on the second occasion too. It can take time though - in my case a few weeks, but it did go.

Well I’m six weeks in for t in the left ear. It was actually reading a former message you put up about it going that gave me some hope. It’s reached a tolerable level at the minute but somehow and I have no clue how I’m back at the doctors (literally in the waiting room as I type) waiting to find out if I have an ear infection I. My right ear so I’m a little nervous now.
A friend said she had hers after an ear infection and it went after three months.
