Hi John,
My hearing aid and masker were provided free of charge by the nhs. I believe they quieten my T. There are those who post on this forum who have paid for private aids, which also help.
Best wishes

No, in a word. The more expensive aids will probably have more functions / be smaller / more connective etc, but they're unlikely to make any more of an impact on your T than the NHS ones. Unless you've got pots of cash spare, with no call upon it, I'd stick w/ the NHS - and in fact, that's what I am doing.
I had a consultation with an audiologist from The Hearing Clinic UK, who are a Scotland based firm, and he was spinning me some line about the NHS aren't very good when it comes to technology & my NHS HA's aren't really doing much for my tinnitus. This was clearly just designed to get me to spaff loads of cash on new HA's from them, but they're like everyone else - taking advantage of our misery. He knew I was desperate and thought he'd try his luck to push a sale.
I spoke to my NHS audiologist and the manufacturer themselves, who have no vested interest either way, and they both confirmed my suspicion that he was talking nonsense. So for this along with other reasons, avoid The Hearing Clinic UK.
Thanks for your reply I will stick with the nhs ones
