It all started from having a earache, new suffer.

I had flown to American in Feb 2018. While over there i had earache in my left ear, and thats when i guess it started. To describe it, for those of you that may remember the BBC 1 test signal that high pitch nose, its similar to what i'm hearing in my left ear.

I come back from American thinking maybe it was the air pressure effected my ear in some way, went to the doctor and he couldn't see anything.

Maybe i got used to it but few weeks ago as soon as i wake up it was louder then normal (i guess it spiked as i seen other people comment about similar thing). I went the doctors again (different doctor) and she could see what she believed was water behind the ear drum give me some medication to take and it seem to reduce it even stop it. Now its come back again i went back to the doctors (saw a different one again) he believe it was from the a possible infection i had and thats caused damage and sent me on my way.

Its been worse these past few days and i do not know what to do with myself and is this how its going to be for the rest of my life having this "friend" in my ear from when i wake up to when i go to sleep.

Like others i have seen post, and watching the NHS video if there is background nose going it masks the sound but when its quiet then of course i hear it. Its also worse when i hear a pair of headphones (i make videos on youtube). I know what you going to say you hearing headphones has caused it, yet i always had the volume on super low.

Really on a low point with this....

Hi hells,

Yes it is devastating when it first happens but trust me, it can get better.

Firstly, I would read the advice given on the BTA website. The folk in their office are a friendly group who will be able to offer further support.

The usual route is a GP visit, ENT appointment to rule out anything serious and then hearing checks, with the possible provision of hearing aids and maskers.

You may need sleeping tablets, anti anxiety meds too as tinnitus feeds on sleepless nights and anxiety.

It took 8 months for me to begin to “not hear” my tinnitus and almost 4 years on and I either forget I have it or the noise is quiet enough for it not to bother me. There are situations which cause a spike, but I am confident in my mind that it will go down again - and it does.

Best wishes
