Ear ringing after wax removal

Hello ! I had a muffled right ear so I was suspecting it might be the wax buildup. So I got this wax removal kit with a bulb syringe and I tried it for 3 days until suddenly my right ear has been started ringing now. I Can’t focus on my studies anymore and it’s annoying me a lot. Also is going in a flight safe after this?

Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum kellin95. Do feel free to ask any questions, I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.

Ear wax removal is something best left to the professionals - trying to remove it yourself could result in it becoming impacted and more firmly wedged in.

You may wish to check out our page on ear wax removal at tinnitus.org.uk/ear-wax but I'd suggest you make an appointment with your GP or practice nurse. In the meantime, ear drops (available from a pharmacy) will help soften the wax.

Warmest wishes

Thank you for your reply. If the cause is ear wax then is it curable? And i am scared of using a bulb syringe now by myself so what would be the best way to clean my ears after putting the ear drops?

Oh yes, absolutely - my own tinnitus last year went away very quickly after micro-suction. My advice about cleaning your ears though - don't do it. Let a professional do it - the limit of "do it yourself" ear wax treatment should end with using drops.

Best wishes

Thank you! I really hope that after removing the wax it goes away.
