Pulsatile tinitus severe

Hi all,

I have really bad pulsatile tinnitus. I've had it for 2 years and it is suddenly alot worse.

The whole side of my head feels like it is full of air or liquid and its' 24/7.

Can hear my own voice inside my head (like a head cold) and strange noises.

Have exhausted ENT departments. Had 2 head scans. My only hope now seems to be a Dr in Sheffield with a specialism between neurology and ENT. Anyone else experienced this? It's so bad I feel like going to A&E but know that they don't understand it. Have a support nurse I can talk to luckily, but just no answers.

I have the Same worse at night! My chiropractor is convinced due to my nerve damage issues in my neck and spine. Although he is doing his best to relieve my tinnitus I'm not responding . I am seriously thinking of trying to see a neurologist but I here I might be wasting my time. I have this screaming air like sound in my left ear and also in my head. When the press hard on my cheek bones and head it screams .

Thanks for replying. Same! Worse at night but it is with me 24/7. Have tried osteopathy, acupuncture and physio including vestibular rehab. I have seen a neurologist who was unhelpful but did an MRI scan...nothing to see apparently. Hard to believe when I feel this so strongly. Will keep you posted if I find any leads....Vanessa

Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum. Do feel free to ask any questions, I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.

We have some resources that you might like to check out in addition to our home here:

tinnitus.org.uk

- especially the page tinnitus.org.uk/pulsatile-t...

takeontinnitus.co.uk

Helpline 0800 018 0527 (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm) (outside the UK you can call +44 (0)114 250 9922)

I'm aware of another site/blog specifically for people with pulsatile tinnitus - run by someone with the condition. This is whooshers.com - I'm not sure they run a forum any longer, but it does have some interesting posts.

Warmest wishes

Yeah I have it , my hearing is pretty good . MRI shows I have vascular loops near my auditory system, thus means i can hear my own blood flow . Very much like the sound of water going through a hose pipe under pressure. Told I would have to live with it . Blood pressure ok and no other problems . Consultant told me as you get older your blood flow becomes more turbulent . I’ve stopped smoking and vaping and reduced my drinking . Too risky to operate apparently, I think it’s more down to cost . Made worse by stress and lack of sleep . No choice to carry own ,sadly we can’t choose what we get . Chin up people

No worries we are all here for each other . I wouldn’t mind I’m only in my forties . I tend not to go on here too much as I think it keeps you thinking about it
