Muscular tinnitus

For the past year I have had muscular tinnitus mostly at night in my right ear. This was a fast thrumming noise sensation/sound. It seemed to be dying out as I was told it probably would in a phone consultation with the Tinnitus clinic in London. However recently the other ear has started fluttering a bit during the day and the original ear has started slow thumping every night which is badly affecting my sleep.

Does anyone have experience/advice or know of an expert in muscular tinnitus?

Thank you

Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum. Do feel free to ask any questions, I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.

The advice for managing tinnitus is generally the same whatever the type. We have some resources that you might like to check out in addition to our home here:

That said, if there is a physical cause behind yours, that will need investigating, and you should ask your GP for a referral to ENT.

Warmest wishes
