Hi DianneB, sleeping pills are vital in the early stages of tinnitus as a good night's sleep is necessary, so perhaps you should ask your GP for, say, Zopiclone, which was a great benefit to me in the early days. Also, I would say that a sound oasis machine (I bought mine from the BTA) is vital to help push the T into the background whilst we sleep. I have mine on rainfall, and have done for over 2 years now. Regarding the brown noise making your T more loud, the setting should be low enough so that you can still hear your tinnitus - having the masking sound louder will merely aggravate the tinnitus. Hope this helps. Love, Angela xx

Different people respond to different noises. What sort of things do you normally find calming? I love the sound of a rippling brook, or sea waves breaking on the beach - white/brown/pink noise makes me tense. Keep trying - there's lots of good apps available, if you have a smartphone

Noise is a funny thing. I have tried brown noise, pink and white noise. For me brown is the best. I suggest that you try experiments with types and volume levels.

Wave noise is good for me a night, rain drives me mad.

Good luck on your Tinnitus journey.

Wishing you peace and quiet.

Ade
