Help with white noise use please

Hi all, I am new to this forum but not new to tinnitus which I have suffered from for almost 30 years fortunately it has been mild to moderate which I have learnt to live with as instructed back in the 80's. I am now in my 80's and it has recently become more of a problem so I am starting the round of the ENT specialists albeit privately to save time. To complicate things I am an insomniac and also have obstructive sleep apnoea , I feel that these ailments are related and it would be good to know if any other forum members have made this connection. I am about to try white noise to mask my tinnitus during the daytime with earphones (plug type) but nighttime is a real problem which I hope members can help with, I have a whole range of cd players and the choice of playing into the room, into earphones (probably difficult in bed) or pillow speakers which cannot be heard for more than an inch away. I have no wish to interfere with my wife's sleep so the question is 'what do other people do?' Thank you for reading

Get the BTA pillow speakers and while sleeping prop yourself up more to help breathing.

I'm a sever asthmatic.

White noise generators will help and TRT to support you using them.

Hi swindonia, i too had a dilemma with needing white noise at bed time but didn't want to disturb my wife. I downloaded white noise app to my phone, there are 50+ different types to choose from.

I played different noises each night atca volume just below my T. On the 4th night i tried Air conditioning white noise and my wife sleeps contently with this playing.

Like most things to help us with T, it's a game of trial and error.

Good luck

I personally use a sleep headband (search amazon) and listen to audio books which has worked wonders for my sleep

Hello

I use a sound box that is available from the BTA. I have it set to play rolling wave sounds. Very low. My partner now likes it as well. It is very much in the background. Don't set it to mask the tinnitus. Just loud enough for your brain to process.

Also, I am no hero. I take 15mg Mirtazapine 1 hr before bedtime. I now usually sleep through.

Good luck,

Ade

I use the Sound Oasis machine also from the BTA, there are different sound cards that you can obtain for it. My hubby and I fortunately agree on the waves too. Hope you find something that helps.
