Tinnitus Advert

Hi folks. Just had a bit of a shock -I hardly watch TV but just sat for a few minutes to watch Homes Under the Hammer ( 😂) and seen "big / dramatic " ( well realistic !) advert about tinnitus . By Action on Hearing Loss. It was very " arresting" and I think I was surprised at how direct it was - not sure why as that's a good thing. It also made me feel very loyal to BTA and just hoping that there isn't competition amongst these charities ( working in the charity sector it's full of this , alas ). Has anyone else seen it ?

Great to see this invisible torture is reaching people in the home and making them aware, sadly though, the TV ratings for Homes under the hammer...7 people!

hi lindsay6 yes ive seen it and thought it was quite good, a step in right direction but i dont think it conveyed the anxiety,stress and mental pain that we go through. about competition , im a bta menber too and ive not seen anything as up front as that ad from them so good on them as they seem to be the only ones doing anything to give tinnitus ahigher profile which it def needs! i think the bta should adopt edward munch.s painting,THE SCREAM as a pointer to how people feel when they have it! it could be copied on posters which would draw peoples attention to it as at the moment when you mention T they all seem to say "oh yes ive heard of it" thats all then they change the subject! so at least someone is doing something to promote it competition or not

Hi there - that's an interesting take on the advert, Lindsay. Our Chief Executive has talked to AoHL about the advert. Let's say we don't compete, but we're friendly rivals - we have similar goals, after all!
