Fluvoxomine T spike

Hi 😥 i had to have my anti depressants changed 4 days ago from mitazaphine to fluvoxomine, due to side effects. Unfortunetly my T has had a remarkable increase in loundness and tones. Can anyone help is this normal will it settle back down. I am holding on with them but feel they are going to make my T worse

I had that on seroxat yrs ago but it lessened after a yr on them and disappeared within 6 months of coming off them. I have loud tinnitus 24/7 now though 2 different noises at same time. About to go on anti d's and scared it ll make it worse. Sorry I've no answers I hope it settles for you x you would think if u bring down stress T will reduce or that's what my audiologist says.

Some people find anti depressents help , others that they don't. I only have to have 5 mg of amitryptaline ( when i have not been able to sleep for a few nights in a row) and mine goes haywire. I am not a professional , nor are my experinces and thougts anything else than my own but I think there is still a readiness to prescribe a/ds for tinnitus , and / but I think being depressed and struggling with relentless noise and being concerned about its impact , present and futue , isn't a chemical imbalance but an understandable response to a condition whose ' suffereres' are not helped as much as we could be . We all have to find what works for us , and thank fully this forum means we have others to ask and then to think about how we want to use the information

Sorry but with tinnitus it's mind over matter,forget the anti ds and train your brain to cope with it. I've had it for eleven years now and a lot of the time forget it's even there.

It's also physiological - mine has got worse as the constant years of stress have continked and I fight the exhaustion

Hi Lindsay6 and ro26ry thank you for your replies i forgot to put in that the anti depressants arnt for my tinnitus ive only had that 12 months ive been on anti depressants for 6 years i suffer with severe ocd and have had every therapy going and nothing works unfortunetly medication is the only thing that helps.

Tinnitus is sensitive to change, and changing medications can be quite a big change - not to mention, your system has been under stress because of the side effects caused by the previous medication.

It should all settle in time, but if it persists, do go back to your GP. It can take a number of attempts to find an anti-depressant that suits you.
