Can delayed spikes happen?

I have mild tinnitus and last night I went to an outdoor party, I put on my foam earplugs (and I think that they weren't inserted correctly cause my ear canals are small so half of it was sticking outside, yeah I have to buy smaller ones) and stood like 10/15 meters away from the speakers.

It was loud and the bass was really loud too cause I felt it in my bones literally lol but I took breaks, oddly enough my Decibel app measured up to 90db, not beyond that.

I've been there only for 1 hour with little breaks, then me and my friends decided to go elsewhere like a bar (not a loud one).

When I came back home my ears were fine and now there still fine, no spike.

The problem is that I'm reading that a spike can appear even after days, I've read of a person getting a spike 21 days after the exposure!!

Do y'all think I'm safe? These stories are scaring me a bit.

Besides that,at least I had fun🤭

Hi from reading people's stories I think they can

My tinitus started 4 to 5 days after a very loud alarm ( not a spike but new onset if tinitus)

I think everyone has a very different experience

I'm still worried my kids will get problems after 5 weeks as they were exposed to the same loud noise

It sounds like you were being careful and not showing signs now so hopefully you'll be OK

Glad you had a great time 🙂

there’s no telling, with tinnitus! Suppose you have a resurgence the day after tomorrow. Will you blame the music? Or will you put it down to a car door banging? Or maybe a dog barked? Who knows? BUT you should enjoy your life to the full. A life lived worrying about whether something nasty might happen isn’t a happy life. Yes, protect your ears, just as you look both ways before crossing the road. But enjoy it!

If you have a smartphone you can download a number of them from the Apple Store or Google play.
